Rome (Italy). On 24 October 2020, we celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Election of the Mother General of the FMA Institute, Sister Yvonne Reungoat.
God’s surprises ask us to welcome the unprecedented of each day with trust and hope. We join Mother Yvonne in living this unusual time, in communion with one another and with the world, ready to respond with joy to the invitation: “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5). And it is this same invitation that the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, in the Eucharistic Celebration of 24 October 2014, made to the Chapter members before the voting, recalling Mary at Cana, “Do whatever he tells you”.
Behold, Mother, the call still today to undertake the journey, listening attentively to the Teacher, to Jesus and to His Spirit with an open and docile heart to continue to “fill those jars with water”, with concern, with joy, with loving kindness, comfort, and compassion for the FMA, for the young, and for the Salesian Family in the World.
With Mary, welcoming this extraordinary time of generativity, you continue to give impetus and new life to the mission to which you were called on 24 October 2014.
Asked about the willingness to be the successor of Mother Mazzarello and to incarnate her motherhood to share a new season of prophecy in the FMA Institute at the service of the Church, you answered: “I accept! Thank you for the trust. The biblical expression that supports me is: ‘When I am weak, then I am strong’. I entrust myself entirely to Mary and I accept her invitation: ‘Do whatever He tells you’.”
And so, today, on the 12th anniversary of the Election, you repeat again: “Don Bosco assured us that the true Superior of the Institute is Mary Help of Christians. To her I entrust the mission of animating and governing the FMA Institute. I will try to be, like Mother Mazzarello, Her Vicar.”

C’est avec un coeur plein de reconnaissance que je vous écris pour vous dire que nous avons rendu grâce à Dieu pour le don de votre vie, pour l’amour et la dédication avec laquelle vous avez servi l’Institut. Un grand merci Mère Yvonne pour votre coeur maternel, vous nous avez vraiment aimées comme Mère Mazzarello nous rappelant l’essentiel de notre vie consacrée et surtout la joie salésienne qui attire au Christ, la joie “contagieuse”.
Que Marie Auxiliatrice continue à vous guider et nous accompagner toutes vers le Christ en faisant ce qu’il nous dit.

Querida Madre Yvonne, desde el Instituto Politécnico San Miguel Arcángel de Santiago de Chile, donde tuvimos el honor de recibirla en noviembre del año 2018, le deseamos en su nuevo Aniversario, que el Señor de la vida la siga animando en su servicio misionero, y oramos por Ud., para que le otorgue mucha salud y alegría en su corazón.
Toda la Comunidad Educativa y, especialmente, las jóvenes, le decimos GRACIAS, y pedimos a María Santísima que siempre la cubra con su manto.

ce 24 octobre a été un 24 spécial pour nous car, hier à la veille, avec nos élèves qui partaient en week-end, nous nous sommes donné un rendez-vous pour nous retrouver dans le cœur de Jésus autour d’un Ave Maria à vos intentions et en action de grâce pour le service que vous avez rendu en étant à la tête de l’Institut durant ces 12 ans et que vous continuez encore à rendre. Merci pour ce don que le Seigneur nous fait encore de vous avoir avec nous pour ces six prochains mois. Dieu seul sait pourquoi il a permis une telle situation qui a occasionné votre prolongation. Nous sommes avec vous dans cette période et nous vous sommes très reconnaissants car vos paroles d’encouragement nous arrivent à temps en ce moment où nous avons besoin d’entendre une parole de réconfort. A notre tour, nous nous permettons de vous dire aussi un mot d’encouragement pour bien affronter cette période que nous appelons un “BONUS DE DIEU”. Merci Mère Yvonne et courage. Vos sœurs de Mahajanga avec les jeunes du Centre Marie Auxiliatrice, qui vous embrassent fort.
