Home Vicar General

Vicar General

The Vicar General, Sr. Chiara Cazzuola, is the foremost collaborator of Mother in her task of animating the life and dynamic fidelity in the Institute (C. 125).
The Vicar General takes the place of Mother when she is absent. She fulfills the task Mother entrusts to her. In particular:
– Accompaniment and animation of the community of the Generalate, directly dependent on Mother.
– Coordination of the formation meetings for new Provincials taking place in the six-year term of Mother and the Council.
– The implementation of possible Canonical Visits to the Provinces or other visits and meetings requested by the Provincial Communities.

Suor Chiara Cazzuola – Vicar General

She was born at Campiglia Marittima – Livorno (Italy) in 1955. Belonging to the Tuscany Province of Holy Spirit, she lives the first formation periods in Castelgandolfo (Rome) where, on August 5, 1975, she made her first religious profession in the FMA Institute.

Degreed in Literature, she is a Lecturer for several years and, subsequently, Dean in the High School of the First and Second levels.
For 10 years she was local and provincial Delegate for the Salesian Youth Poly-sports (PGS) and matured her pastoral experience as Provincial Coordinator for Youth Pastoral. She was a community Animator and then provincial Councilor.

In 2001, with the unification of the three Provinces of Emiliana, Liguria, and Tuscany, she is nominated Province Councilor for Formation and gives her contribution  favoring journeys of communion, of spirituality in a style of simplicity, respect for people, and depth.
In 2007, she is nominated Provincial of the Emiliana-Liguria-Tuscany Province of Mother of the Cenacle with its center in La Spezia (ILS).

The GC XXII of 2008 elects her as a visiting Councilor and Sr. Chiara pronounces her availability by affirming: “In a spirit of abandonment to the will of God and trusting in the Lord’s help, I say yes”.

During the 2008- 2014 six-year period, she visited some Provinces of America and Europe, gaining an experience rich in Salesian spirit and interculturality. She gives each sister her boundless love for every human person and reality, her smiling optimism and goodness, and her  ability to grasp the seeds of life and hope in everyone and in events.

She is a transparent person and enthusiastic about the FMA vocation, has in her heart a great passion for young people, and expresses her capacity for sincere, serene, collaborative relationships.

In 2014, Mother nominates her as the Moderator of General Chapter XXIII and she is elected Vicar General at the same Chapter, sharing in this way the service of animation and government with the Superior General. At the Mother’s question after the vote: “Do you Accept?”, Sr. Chiara replies with great emotion: “I trust the Lord and I entrust myself to Mary Help of Christians. That’s why I say YES!”
