America. On 26 January 2024, the first online meeting between the   Social Communication Coordinators with their teams of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of America took place, led by Sister Maria Ausilia De Siena, General Councilor for Communication, together with the Social Communication Team of America (ECOSAM), with the aim of presenting strategic planning 2023-2025.

The online meeting brought together 72 participants at provincial and local levels, representing the Conferences of: North America (NAC); Mexico, Antilles, Central America (CIMAC); Bolivarian Nations (CINAB); Brazil (CIB), and South American Cone (CICSAL).

Sister Ausilia De Siena and the ECOSAM coordination team welcomed the participants, beginning the session with a prayer, in which the presence of the Lord in the mission of communicators was invoked. They then proposed Pope Francis’ prayer for World Communications Day 2018, and concluded with a Hail Mary.

In her greeting, Sister Ausilia expressed the joy of being able to accompany the meeting and to get to know the communications network of America. She was grateful for the commitment and contribution of each Province in the field of Educommunication.

Citing Pope Francis’ Messages for the World Day of Peace and the World Day of Social Communications, she urged “to continually seek and become aware of a new style of communication.” She also called for reflection on continuous innovations, recalling the responsibility to think and act consciously.

Sister Doris Jaimes, representing the coordination team, presented ECOSAM’s strategic planning 2023-2025, highlighting the progress made. To give continuity to the implementation of the planning and in response to the formation needs identified in an evaluation carried out in 2023, the launch was announced, in collaboration with the Fondazione Universitaria San Paolo di Bogotá (Colombia), of the Diploma Course in “Educommunicative Culture”.

This Diploma Course, which aims to strengthen skills in digital communication and the effective use of current technological tools, will be held in online mode from 1 March to 30 June 2024, in Spanish. Registration is open on 24 January until 24 February. Later, the course will be extended to other languages of the American continent. (Presentation)

Sister Ausilia encouraged the participants to take advantage of this educational opportunity offered by ECOSAM and expressed the hope that this initiative will be extended even more in the future to include Educommunicators of other languages.

She concluded by stressing the importance of forming ourselves together, generating a common culture of communication that can be strategic to build a culture of peace. “Today, as always, we are all looking for a better quality of life, based on values of fraternity that weave deep, sincere, and lasting bonds in our communities, in our environments, and throughout the world.”
