Macaé (Brazil) On 11 April 2020, at the Easter Vigil, the Institute of Our Lady of Glory – INSG / Castello and the Salesian Catholic Faculty of Macaé (Brazil) promoted a time of prayer for life, to ask for an end to the Covid pandemic -19.

The event, called “Ceremony of Lights”, brought together the Educating Community at 20:00 to the windows of their homes for a moment of reflection and family prayer, lit by candles or cell phone flash lights, asking God the Father for well-being and for life.

The celebration was animated by Mariana Duarte and Gustavo Massa, a couple from Belo Horizonte who summoned the families, via social networks, for this time of prayer. The gesture they proposed, to light a candle and put it in their own window, was inspired by the Fête des lumières (Festival of Lights) which is held every year in Lion, France, to thank the Virgin Mary for the end of the plague that it hit hundreds of people in 1643.

The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Our Lady of Glory Community, from the Brazilian Province of Our Lady of Penha (BRJ), participated in the prayer network united with the families of Macaé and the world, in this period of great challenges in which the whole world is fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.

It was a significant moment, celebrated on the Saturday that precedes the Resurrection of Jesus, during a time of social isolation that requires joining forces to nourish hope and grow in solidarity with others.
