Santa Marta, Granadilla (Costa Rica). From August 15th to 20th 2018, in Costa Rica, the Triennial Verifica of the Interprovincial Conferences of Mexico, Antilles and Central America (CIMAC) and North America (NAC) is taking place.

Mother Yvonne Reungoat, Superior General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians together with 4 General Councilors: Sister Phyllis Neves, Sister Chantal Mukase, Sister Runita Borja, Sister Maria Nieves, and the FMA Provincials and delegates are present at the Triennial Verifica Assembly, along with laity and youth of the Provinces of CIMAC-NAC.

The objective of the Triennial Verifica is: To evaluate, to thank and to celebrate the post-chapter course and to suggest the themes for General Chapter XXIV.

“The three-year evaluation is an opportunity that the Institute offers to revive the awareness of our charismatic identity, re-read what it has lived in the light of the Word of God and the challenges of today and plan with new hope for the future. The evaluation is a significant experience for all of us to see once again the impact that the great slogan has on us and on the communities: “Broaden Your Vision: be with the young missionaries of hope and joy” (GC XXIII).

On the afternoon of August 15, 2018, after the welcome greeting in the Central American country and in the Province of Our Lady of the Angels (CAR), the meeting officially began with the invocation to the Holy Spirit introduced by the Mexican sisters of the Mother of the Church Province.

The hosting FMA of the CAR (Central America Region) animate the moment of welcome: Sister Ena Bolaños (Provincial CAR), Sister Susana Li, Sister Celia Lopez, Professor Ros Garibaldi, and the young Panamanian Mayra Alejandra Diaz, introduce the pupils of the School – María Auxiliadora High School of San José. The boys and girls, along with Professor Douglas Villalobos, present songs typical of the different countries as a welcome

CIMAC-NAC is made up of 13 countries, which have enriched themselves with the holiness of the Salesian charism that continues to sow love and trust in God. Sr. Guadalupe Torres, President of CIMAC, invites us to live the commitments made in the light of the General Chapter XXIII. As the Greek people did when listening to Demosthenes, “we begin to work to be a home that evangelizes in transparency, in communion, and with joy …”.

Sister Phyllis Neves, Visiting Councilor and Referent for the Verifica, encourages us to be “prophets and missionaries of hope and joy”.

In her presentation, Mother General says: “We are here as prophets of hope and joy, we are accompanied by all those who pray for us. We are not alone, we are a great family. It is no coincidence to be here, the Lord has guided our pass so that in these days we can live a profound encounter with the Lord who is among us. We have come from different countries; we are together as Samaritans, like the disciples on the way to Emmaus, brothers and sisters who live the encounter with the Lord. We broaden our gaze; we are missionaries of hope, of joy, witnessing to the values of our charism “.

After a time of personal reflection, the participants gather together as a group for sharing and resonance of the word heard.

In the following days, we will continue the reflection on the themes proposed by Mother, alternating moments of knowledge, of sharing of experiences, of in-depth analysis, and of personal and group internalization.
