Phnom Penh (Cambodia). On October 25-28, 2019 St. John Bosco Provincial House of Phnom Penh, Cambodia hosted the Provincial Chapter for Mary Our Help Province of Cambodia-Myanmar on the theme: “Communities that generate life in the heart of contemporaneity.”

The icon of the Wedding Feast of Cana and the Biblical phrase “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2: 5) guided the work of the 25 sisters called to be part of the Provincial Chapter, of which 3 from Cambodia, 11 from Myanmar, and the Provincial.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit celebrated by Msgr. Bruno Cosme MEP, the new Apostolic Vicar of Kampong Cham, Cambodia began the Chapter, followed by a half day of Adoration and prayer to invoke the help and presence of the Holy Spirit during this important event for the life of the Province.  In the afternoon, the Provincial presented the Report on the 2015-2019 journey of the Province.

A novelty at this Provincial Chapter was the presence for the first item of some lay people on the opening day and 5 teachers during work on the first question.  Their presence and interventions were very valued and important.

The Chapter ended with a celebration of gratitude in the Chapel in which all the sisters present in Cambodia participated, and with the mandate of the Provincial Sr. Jessica Salvaña.

Each received a challenging message inserted in a small jar placed at the foot of the altar and decorated with 6 large jars from which the water turned into wine came out.

These were 4 intense and fruitful days and everyone worked with much commitment and desire for the good.
