Rome (Italy). There is no peace for Syria. After almost seven years of conflict, the country continues to be hostage to violence and weapons.

“We Christians believe and know that the Resurrection of Christ is the true hope of the world … And today we ask for fruits of peace for the whole world, beginning with the beloved and tormented Syria, whose population is exhausted by a war that does not see an end” (P. Francesco).

The Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sr. Yvonne Reungoat, addresses to all the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, to the Educating Communities, and to the Salesian Family a strong invitation to prayer, so that hope may return to the heart of Syria.

Today in Syria, even in the catastrophe, there are those who are not tired of sowing hope. In this loved and tormented land, among suffering and exhausted people, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians continue to be sowers of consolation and workers of peace.

The sisters in the communities are doing well; they pray and continue to stay with the children and families, to instill courage and to witness joy and hope. They carry out their daily activities with serenity, certain of the prayer that reaches them from all over the world.

In these moments, it is important for our sisters to be close to the children, to the youth, to offer them spaces for dialog and sharing, for prayer and fraternal welcome, and to nourish paths and relationships in which every rancor and hate is eliminated from the hearts of all. Our communities are a point of reference for everyone, and that is why they remain.

Let us ask the Lord for a true peace, a lasting peace, while we assure them of our solidarity and closeness.
