Subiaco (Italy). Located in Subiaco (Rome), above the Monastery and the Sanctuary of Sacro Speco of St. Benedict, San Biagio House of Prayer and Welcome, of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Roman Province of St. John Bosco (IRO), is an Salesian educational environment which favors the conditions for an encounter with God.

Centrality of the Word, in particular the experience of Lectio Divina, is the identity of the House of Prayer. Silence, contact with nature, simplicity of life, and Eucharistic moments fill the atmosphere you breathe with joyful gratitude for and welcome of the other.

The FMA of the Community live the Salesian charism accompanying the human and faith journey of the people who every year, from every part of Italy and Europe, arrive at San Biagio: young people, lay people, consecrated people who share in common the search for God.

Each arrives with a backpack full of expectations and leaves with new hope. Some guests say:

“The encounters at San Biagio were for me joy, serenity, fraternity, welcome, and availability of the FMA. Carving out a daily moment of silence, adoration, reflection on the Word is always demanding and not always achievable. In San Biagio, it is easy to enter into ourselves with Jesus and listen to Him in silence”.

“The experience in San Biagio was enriching for my work as a painter and iconographer. I believe I received beautiful spiritual gifts of love, friendship, fraternity, and peace”.

In addition to the welcome and hospitality of individuals or groups, the possibility of doing spiritual retreats, individually or in groups, and spiritual accompaniment, various activities are also offered: Lectio Divina encounters for categories of people, iconography courses, manual work in contact with nature, “Paths of light” for young people that unites film and spirituality.

In San Biagio you immediately feel at home. The family spirit is the atmosphere that one breathes, thanks to the opportunity to experience fraternity and sharing with the FMA and with the other guests, the unfolding of the days at one’s own pace, like in a family.

Sr. Maria Pia Giudici, FMA, who initiated the experience around the Word and lived in the House of Prayer until the last day of her life, said: “At San Biagio we help people meet the Lord.” The essential thing in Subiaco is to be open to the Mystery.

  1. Es un lugar bellísimo, fascinante, que gran legado recibido, que gran regalo haberlo conocido… espíritu de familia, oración-contemplación, en el corazón conservo el deseo de volver.
