Santa Marta (Colombia).  On 17 February 2024, Sister Mónica Tausa Ramírez, Dean of Mary Help of Christians Higher Normal School of the Province of Mary Help of Christians (CMA), received, on behalf of the Educating Community, the award given to the “Personages of the Year 2023” by the local newspaper “Hoy diary of the Magdalena”.

Faithful to its tradition of appreciating values and corporate social responsibility, every year the newspaper rewards the efforts of women, men, institutions, and companies, thanks to their selfless work dedicated to the service of society, who become real examples to follow to build generations able to guide the processes of transformation that today’s times require.

At the ceremony in the theater “Pepe Vives Campo de Cajamag” of Santa Marta, various civil and religious authorities participated: the Minister of Foreign Trade, Industry and Tourism, Germán Umaña; the national unions represented by the Executive President of Aliadas, the former minister María Claudia Lacouture; the President of Confecámaras, Julián Domínguez; the President of Fedegán, José Félix Lafaurie Rivera; the President of Fenalco, Jaime Alberto Cabal; the President of the Administrative and Planning Region, RAP, Caribbean, Dr.. Eduardo Verano de la Rosa, governor of Atlántico; the Mayor of Santa Marta, Carlos Pinedo Cuello; the Bishop of the Diocese, Msgr. José Mario Bacci Trespalacios.

Among the 17 names of people and institutions awarded, the Normal School of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians for 70 years guarantees future teachers an integral and quality preparation. Directed by Sister Mónica Patricia Tausa Ramírez, the Institution is a reference point in the transmission of values and in the formation of women with a great human sense. Sister Mónica received recognition from the Bishop of the Diocese.

During the ceremony, together with the Personages of the Year 2023, also elected were the winners of the Awards, “Life and Work”, “Exceptional Youth”, “Exemplary Samaritan” that aim to recognize and set an example to present and future generations of inhabitants of the Magdalena department for their commitment and work for the community.
