Catania (Italy) The experience of staying at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, for many young people is an opportunity to express their talents and creativity. The young animators of the “Don Pino Puglisi” Oratory of the Basilica Sanctuary St. Maria dell’Elemosina in Biancavilla, in the province of Catania – Sicily, driven by the desire to communicate the message of hope and the Easter proclamation, made a music video with the song “Love beyond distances”.

The song was conceived and composed by the oratorians in the context of numerous initiatives that are taking place in order not to block the activities of the oratory which, in these days of quarantine have had a new impetus the through social media, giving continuity to the educational mission in favor of young people, in the style of Blessed Pino Puglisi and St. John Bosco.

The young people, accompanied by the parish priest and educators, and inspired by the words of St. Augustine: “The measure of love is to love without measure”, wanted to take advantage of the difficult moment that the world is going through as a call from the Lord to reach everyone “beyond distances” and to “write a new future together”.

The oratory “Don Pino Puglisi”, recently established, found a home in an area with a Salesian heart, thanks to the presence of the Mary Help of Christians Community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Sicilian Province Mother Maddalena Morano (ISI), located in the parish territory that has always worked in various realities of this town on the slopes of Etna. Thanks also to the various Groups of the Salesian Family present in the area, with the passion of “Da mihi animas”, the FMA formed generations of young people and continue their educational action, promoting the protagonism of young people, so that they may become “good Christians and honest citizens “.
