Rome (Italy)  A group of young Catholic Chinese volunteers of Shanghai, China, having become aware of the dimensions of the pandemic Covid-19 in Italy, organized themselves in the last few weeks of March and the beginning of April 2020 to help the Italian people by sending devices for individual protection and devices for doctors and health workers.

The young people are members of the group Sheep of the Good Shepherd, who together with Fr. Paul, their spiritual guide, created from among their contacts a network of benefactors and of businesses to obtain materials.  They then organized the mailing, paying the expenses themselves.  Some members that have ties and know people in Italy, collaborating with St. John Bosco Roman Province (IRO) and with the Economer General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians who coordinated the work, arranged for the dispatch of approximately 60 parcels of material.

Part of the parcels were sent to two hospitals, in Piedmont and Sicily, which lack these devices. The rest of the material was distributed to the various retirement homes of the FMA and to other Italian social realities that found themselves handling huge problems.

The Shanghai team is available to continue this support should the need for protective devices persist. Health workers, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, and all those who benefited from their generosity, are grateful for this providential help.

Sister Vilma Tallone, General Councilor for Administration, expresses her gratitude with a wish to the Sheep of the Good Shepherd group: “We entrust to God the life and future of these young people, wishing them to always maintain enthusiasm and attention to others, as they showed on this occasion. ”

The young people of the Sheep of the Good Shepherd group made a video to document the experience.
