Rome (Italy). On 26 April 2026, in Macas, Ecuador, the World Feast of Gratitude will be celebrated, hosted by Sacred Heart Province (ECU). Feast program
“Be missionaries everywhere” is the theme of the Feast, which takes place against the backdrop of the recent canonization of Saint Maria Troncatti, a missionary who, precisely in Ecuador, gave her life for the reconciliation between settlers and the Shuar people.
“The choice to celebrate the World Feast of Gratitude in Ecuador, in ‘Sacred Heart’ Province, is intended as a tribute to the holiness of Sister Maria Troncatti, who lived ardently as a missionary in the land that became her ‘homeland of the heart,’ until her very last breath,” explains Mother Chiara in Circular No. 1057.
“Celebrating the Feast of Gratitude in the places where Saint Maria Troncatti lived means rediscovering, within her rich and adventurous missionary life, her gift for discerning God’s interventions in history, and her ability to look upon life with confidence, focusing on its positive aspects to uncover every sign of goodness present within it. It reminds us that we can always do something to improve the reality around us”.
