Rome (Italy). On 4, 10, and 17 February, the semester meetings of the Sector were held with the Youth Ministry Coordinators of the CICSAL, CINAB, and CIMAC Conferences. On this occasion, the invitation was also extended to the provincial and local teams of YM, becoming a valuable space for shared formation for FMA, lay people, and young people.

In her introductory message, Sister Runita Borja, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, praised participation in these events, which nourish reflection, a sense of family, and joint formation, sharing the same mission from different parts of the world.

Subsequently, Sister Ivone Goulart, collaborator of the Sector, presented the journey taken by the Salesian School of America (ESA) in these 30 years of life (1994 – 2024), illustrating the stages of the ESA continental meetings.

From 1 to 5 May will be held in Guadalajara (Mexico) the V Continental Meeting of ESA, with the aim of celebrating the 30 years, following the call to update education in different contexts, promoting a Salesian educative leadership that guarantees the integral formation of young people.

In a second moment, the Visiting Councilor, Sister Marta Riccioli, presented the theme, “Synod Interpellations to our charism”.

The reflection focused on missionary synodality as a way of life that generates new forms of participation, animation, and government, beginning with the General Council that, within its programming, has outlined some paths to follow, to implement concrete journeys.

After a brief reflection on each point of the program, she proposed some challenges to live synodal missionary animation in the educating communities:

  • The style of “walking together” of the Educating Communities has one purpose: to live the prophecy of communion with a missionary spirit.
  • Rediscovering the meaning of “walking together” as an Educating Community (FMA – lay people – young people) with a view to building a more just and fraternal society, so that the Kingdom of God may be realized.
  • Giving life to synodal processes that include young people: this “way of walking together” becomes a prophecy for the community itself, for the Church, for the world.
  • Synodality becomes our way of being Educating Communities.

At the end of the intervention, a space was left for dialogue, a very enriching moment of sharing for each participant and also for the YM Area, as it is an effective way to get in touch with the members of the Educating Communities of the different Conferences.
