Ngandajika (RD Congo). On 13 November 2020, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Central African Province Our Lady of Africa (AFC) inaugurated a new community in Ngandajika, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the Province of Lomami, in the territory of Ngandajika.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the collaboration of the FMA with the Diocese of Mbujimayi, the Bishop, Msgr. Emmanuel Bernard Kasanda, requested the presence of the FMA in Ngandajika, to work on the literacy project with about 800 girls aged 15 to 25, many of them without education due to failure to attend school or to early marriages.

In addition to this mission, the FMA are called to take care of the situation of people with albinism, to support them from a spiritual point of view and to help them integrate into the professional world and cope with the dermatological and ophthalmological problems related to their condition.

The FMA who make up the new community – Sr. Pétronille Ngama, Sr. Justine Mpanga, and Sr. Caroline Twanga – were accompanied to the official welcome by the Provincial, Sr. Marie Dominique Mwema Mukato. The welcome of the FMA by the population was warm due to the precious service they undertake and the trust acquired in the area with their apostolate among the young.
