(America). On 10 March 2022, the online meeting of  the Central Commission of the Salesian School in America (ESA) on the theme: “The Salesian school in America, with young people, a sign of hope and a proposal for the future. Projects in progress and permanent challenges: Identity and quality of Salesian education in the American continent,” with the aim of accelerating the actions envisaged in the 2021 – 2023 Strategic Planning and in the Identity Card, proposing dates and organization of activities.

The meeting was attended by the referents of the four Regions that form the Network of Schools and Professional Formation Centers of the Provinces of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and the Salesians of Don Bosco present on the American continent.

Sr. Ivone Goulart Lopes, Referent of the Youth Ministry Sector of the FMA Institute, guided the prayer, recalling the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Institute, an event that takes us back to the charismatic origins, deeply marked by the presence of Mary, to contemplate God’s project begun in Mornese in 1872.

Ana Paula Costa e Silva, Referent of CISBRASIL – SDB, then presented the Survey: profile and formation needs of the Central Educators of the Salesian School of America (ESA). Participants reflected on the interviewees’ suggestions, to evaluate which ones can be taken into consideration in the future.

Subsequently, planning began to organize the continental online meeting on the Global Pact for Education and on the Preventive System, which will take place in November 2022, and to take the first steps in preparing the ESA V continental meeting, scheduled for 2024.

Furthermore, on the basis of the Strategic Planning of the Salesian School of America – ESA, for 2021-2023, Axis 2: “Ongoing formation of CEPS members in Salesian Schools”, Action 1.1 was taken into consideration which consists of the organization of a digital database of archives in diverse formats, organized into categories. To this end, each Region will be invited to share formative aids regarding the human, Christian, Salesian, and professional dimensions, which can be used by the various actors of the Salesian educative-pastoral communities.

This action is an opportunity for mutual enrichment, given that the resources produced over time by each Region are different, the use of which could be valued through this possibility of sharing and broadening access, to strengthen the sharing network in America. The desire is that this can become a shared base of formative resources, available to all Provinces, both as aids for the formation of the members of the Educational-Pastoral Communities of the Salesian School in America, and as a starting point for the elaboration of other materials.

After the evaluation and planning of the International Formation Meetings (IFM) on the Preventive System, some appointments for ESA were recalled:

– the Congress CIEC – Mexico 2022 on the theme: “The future of education: learning to transform” (May 26-28 2022);

the Meeting of the Central Commission, at Guadalajara (29 May – 1 June);

-the Congress OIEC – International Office of Catholic Education, (1-3 December 2022) on the theme: “From the common home to the common mission: building together the people of education”.

Fr. Claudio Cartes, SDB contact person for the PG Dicastery, led the closing prayer of the meeting, inviting the participants to invoke world peace.
