(Peru). St. Rose of Lima Province of Peru (PER), following the Resolution of the XXIV General Chapter, proceeds on various levels to involve the Educating Communities, promoting attitudes and actions in favor of integral ecology.

Sr. Rosa Mollo, Delegate to GCXXIV, tells of the journey that the Province is pursuing and the proposals for experiencing the Laudato Si’ Week, which takes place from 22 to 29 May 2022.

“The experience of walking together as a family encourages us in our efforts to put into practice the Chapter Deliberation that challenges us:

The Chapter Assembly allowed itself to be challenged by the cry of the young, the poor, and the earth, and decided to involve the whole Institute in a concrete and continuous path of conversion to integral ecology, assuming as a network the seven objectives of the “Laudato Si'”, in the spirit of the Preventive System.

We began this journey within the spaces for sharing the experience of the XXIV General Chapter in the provincial assemblies that took place in January 2022, also in virtual mode due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with shared reflection and concrete commitment to put the Deliberation into practice through the provincial project and the return to the freshness of the origins and to the sources of our Salesian Spirit.

At the local level, each community started the process of animating the proposal in different and creative ways. Some have set up a Laudato Si’ team made up of members of the Educating Communities, in order to share reflections, generate actions, and make concrete commitments to bring the experiences into daily life, integrating them into annual community projects.

At the same time, the Provincial Council, after reflecting and asking for light from the Holy Spirit, decided to form an internal Commission to animate and support the synodal journey towards an integral ecology and to accompany the Educating Communities of the Province in the use of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform, assuming Don Bosco’s strategy of accompaniment ‘one by one’, according to the rhythm of each community, and promoting awareness of the urgency of changing one’s attitudes.

The Provincial Youth Ministry team is holding various meetings, of online formation of the FMA and of accompaniment of each of the Animators of the Communities and of the Referents of the Laudato Si’ Platform of each Community.

In this regard, a formation Blog has been created with resources that help socialize the wealth of the Laudato si’ Action Platform.

In addition, a Provincial Facebook Page was opened in which it is possible to share and learn about the steps taken by each community to promote a change of mentality and live according to the logic of an integral ecology oriented towards the person, the care of others, society, environment, history, and cultures.

The commission also proposes concrete actions to experience the week of Laudato si’ and the time of creation, to elaborate the ecological calendar, the local action plan and to follow the registration to the platform proposed by the Church.

It is a slow but dynamic journey, in which we listen, get involved, respect the rhythms of a process, which gives the opportunity to share the richness of the Educating Communities of the Province in the context of Laudato si’.
