Valladolid (Spain). On 18 and 19 September 2021, Pablo Osorio, young animator of the House of Our Lady of Sorrows of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Valdepeñas, of  Mary Help of Christians Province (SPA) and representative of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), participated in the National Seminar with  Youth “Los 40 “, held in Valladolid, at Heart of Jesus Spirituality House.

The “Los 40” National Youth Seminar is a national event coordinated by the Episcopal Subcommittee for young people and children of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (EEC), born from the process of the Synod of Bishops on Youth convened by Pope Francis in 2018 on “Young people, faith, and vocational discernment to listen to young people and walk with them”. The first edition took place in 2018, with the election of two young people who represented Spain at the Pre-Synodal Youth Meeting held in Rome in March 2018. For the Church in Spain, it is an important meeting, as it is a space for concrete listening to the expectations and proposals of young people.

About 40 young people with pastoral experience participate in the Seminar, linked to Dioceses, Congregations, and Movements to live, pray, and reflect together on the pastoral care of young people. In this edition there were 8 young people linked to religious institutes,   including Pablo Osorio,   convened through the Youth Vocation Ministry (PJV) of the Spanish Conference of Religious (CONFER).

The Director of the EEC Subcommittee for Youth and Children, Raúl Tinajero, led the meeting where, in mixed work groups, young people shared their reflections and contributed to the elaboration of the preparatory document for the new Framework Project of Youth Ministry of the Church in Spain: “Poneos en camino”.

It is a Document to begin dialogue and propose the new Youth Ministry project in all contexts of Spain. The teamwork carried out by the young people in the groups made it possible to include new contributions in the text, as well as studying ways to present it creatively and effectively to young people and pastoral care leaders from all over Spain.

“For you, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, we young people must continue to be the key to your existence. A mission that is based on prayer, on dedication is what must continue to keep you alive to receive the spirit of joy and hope that you give to young people and which is a fundamental pillar. For a young person, a Salesian house is always and must continue to be his/her house, especially in times of difficulty. Let us continue to work together on this, in that integral education that is received in every educational environment from closeness and trust, where young people feel loved and welcomed”.
