Pudukkottai (India). As part of the initiatives for the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence (15 August 2021), the Government organized, with the support of the Department of Education, national awareness campaigns aimed at young people and students of High Schools and Universities about the prevention of HIV, AIDS, and tuberculosis, and to promote blood donation.

The campaigns organized by districts, were launched through webinars which were followed by events, insights, and competitions at the local level. The students of the Auxilium College of Arts and Science in Regunathapuram, directed by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of  Blessed Eusebia Palomino Community, of Our Lady of the Snow Province (INT), were selected for the Pudukkottai District Online Quiz Competition, in the federal state of Tamil Nadu.

The students of Auxilium College who participated on 20, 22, and 24 September 2021, in the online quiz competitions on the three topics – HIV awareness, blood donation, and tuberculosis – were judged 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Prize that were awarded by the District Level Committee (DLC).

The recognition is a great encouragement for all students in the peripheral district of Pudukkottai and for the Auxilium College Scholastic Institution, which is committed to the integral education of girls from rural areas. The motto of the College, “Knowledge and Virtue”, represented by the symbols of the book, the lily, and the lamp, reminds the students to always keep alive the light of these healthy principles to bring, with professional preparation, their own contribution to society and to be, according to the Salesian charism, “good Christians and honest citizens”.
