Neuquén (Argentina). From August 2020, the ‘Chos Malal Winds of Liberty Women’s House’ has been operational in Chos Malal, for the hospitality and accompaniment of women in situations of violence and dependence, created through the coordination of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Province St. Francesco Xavier (ABB) with the social organizations Vientos de Libertad, Cooperativa Campesina MTE Rural and Defensoría Popular Don Jaime de Nevares.

“Space is becoming Home. With the arrival of spring, you can stay outside, where we are setting up a vegetable garden. Preparing the land for sowing is one of the daily activities”, says Sister Paola Jorquera, the FMA referent of the House, which currently hosts a teenager and a mother with three children.

The team of the House is supported by a lawyer – who is part of one of the partner organizations – for counseling women and by a psychologist, to accompany guests and team members.

Sister Paola underlines the ecclesial value of the experience of promoting women: “It is gratifying to be able to give them a hand, but it is much more so to see how women stand up to move forward and are able to reach other women who are experiencing situations similar to theirs. It is a beautiful experience of Community, which is a manifestation of the unity of the Church, represented by the FMA and by the social organizations that collaborate to build spaces aimed at improving the quality of life, ‘so that all may have Life in abundance'”.
