Rome (Italy). On the occasion of the Youth Jubilee, which will be held in Rome from 28 July to 3 August 2025, the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr. Fabio Attard, and the Superior General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, address young people from every corner of the world with a heartfelt appeal to sow peace and reconciliation.
In the video – launched through all the digital channels of the Salesian Family and published on the symjubilee.org website, they ask young people from all over the world to become builders of an unarmed, reconciled future full of hope.
“Let yourselves be guided by Providence, says Fr. Fabio in the video message, like Don Bosco who, in the dream at nine years of age, was told, ‘Here is your field; here is where you have to work.’ You too are called to cultivate peace in the field, where your life takes place, your family, school, community.”
Inspired by Don Bosco’s dream at nine years of age, in which the young John receives the mission of guiding and transforming hearts with goodness, the message calls every young person to take care of their ‘field’: their life, family, school, community.
“Pope Leo has reminded us many times to be builders and artisans of peace, explains Sister Chiara, to make each of our communities a ‘house of peace’, in which, as he himself said, we learn to defuse hostility through dialogue; where justice is practiced and forgiveness is preserved.”
It is also an invitation to produce digital content that speaks “seeds of peace,” concrete daily gestures of reconciliation, inclusion, dialogue, and fraternity, a concrete way to counter the culture of hatred and spread peace, also through the social media.
The video, subtitled in five languages, will also be broadcast with the global support of Salesian schools, oratories, parishes, missions, and communities.The initiative, however, is aimed at all young peopleand digital contributions can be published on personal or community social networks with the hashtags #SYMJubilee (Salesian Youth Movement) and #Peacebuildersor created directly within the dedicated space: padlet.com/symjubilee.
