Rome (Italy). Can the life of Mary Domenica Mazzarello be told through song and choreographic dance? Not only life, but Don Bosco’s precious and fruitful Charism, which was translated into the feminine 150 years ago and which has continued, under all skies, to fascinate millions of young people ever since.
The Multidea Publishing House in Rome published the musical comedy Sei con noi, born from an idea by Matteo Pantani, Head of the Oratory Youth Center World Youth of the Holy Spirit Institute of Livorno, of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Our Lady of the Cenacle Province (ILS). The musical was conceived in 2012, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the FMA Institute, and was also staged at the Mazzarelli in Mornese on 13 August 2013, on the occasion of the SYM Italy Confront, and in Rome, at the Generalate on 11 October 2014.
With the language of young people, it is now available to Schools, Youth Centers, and to all those who wish to make known the life and the Charism of Mary Domenica Mazzarello, involving the children in the first person. For the FMA and for all those who collaborate in the Salesian charismatic project, the theater is in fact an extraordinary educational tool.
The vivacity of the melodies, the freshness of the words that intertwine the salient stages of Mary Domenica’s life with dance steps, the intensity of love for Jesus, transpire from every scene of the musical.
The work is packaged with the libretto containing the biographical notes of Mother Mazzarello, the texts, and the audio CD with all the songs that compose it. The graphics, curated by Valeria Ricceri, visually present the places and symbols of Maín’s life. The choreography is left to the creativity of whoever will stage it, as are the costumes and sets.
