Rome (Italy). From 15 to 23 May 2021 the Salesian Family, in preparation for the Feast of Mary Help of Christians on 24 May, will live the World Novena, on the theme “O Mary Powerful Virgin”, proposed by the Secretariat for the Salesian Family.
In the month of May dedicated to Mary, in which Pope Francis invites the recitation of the Rosary to invoke the end of the pandemic, the Salesian world joins in prayer invoking Mary “Help of Christians”, whom Don Bosco chose to protect young people and all the Salesian works and whose devotion he spread, especially in times of greatest difficulty.
Sr. Maria Luisa Miranda, Councilor for the Salesian Family Sector, in the Letter sent to the Provincials, Superiors of Preprovinces, and Delegates for the Salesian Family writes:
“This year, the Novena coincides with the preparation for the Solemnity of Pentecost. It will again be Mary, Pope Francis reminds us, who will help us to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, the culmination of the Paschal Mystery. ‘Let us now raise our thoughts to Mary: when the Holy Spirit came, she was there, with the Apostles, a protagonist with the first Community that experienced the wonders of Pentecost, and let us pray that she obtain for the Church an ardent missionary spirit.’ (Regina Caeli, 31 May 2020) In these difficult times, let us turn to the Help of Christians with the same trust as Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello, certain of being heard.”
For each day of the Novena, an aspect of Mary on which to meditate will be highlighted through a story of Don Bosco’s life and the testimonies of international influencers and witnesses. (Video-presentation of the Novena).
On the Homepage of the FMA Institute website, the Novena initiative will be highlighted with links to ANS channels for video testimonials in various languages.
