Lima (Peru).  The Peruvian Province of St. Rose of Lima (PER) is organizing a cycle of five webinars on the theme: “Mary, the Help of Christians in difficult times”, aimed at educators, parents, members of the Salesian Family, and those who share Salesian Spirituality.

In the current scenario marked by the health emergency of the Covid-19 pandemic and celebrating the bicentenary of the Independence of Peru, the FMA share the Marian initiative with the whole Salesian Family, to spread devotion to Mary Help of Christians and to witness to the new generations the certainty of Her maternal presence, extending over time the mandate that Mother Mazzarello received from the Virgin, “I entrust them to you”.

Mary, “Our Lady of difficult times“, is invoked by Don Bosco in particularly difficult times for the Church. In 1862 he confided to Don Cagliero: “Our Lady wants us to honor her under the title of Mary Help of Christians. Times run so sad that we need the Blessed Virgin to help us preserve and defend the Christian faith” (MB 7,334).

Mary becomes humanity’s traveling companion by accepting the call to be the Mother of Jesus. Discreet, and attentive so that “the wine of joy” is never lacking, she is always present in the life of her Son who on the cross gives her to John as Mother, a gift of consolation and protection for those who entrust themselves to her.

The webinars will take place from May 26 to June 4, 2021, with the participation of consecrated persons:

  • 26 May: Mary, woman, disciple, and missionary. Presenter: Sr. María Dolores Ruiz, FMA
  • 28 May: Mary, Helper in the present dramas of humanity. Presenter: Fr. José Luis Plasencia, SDB
