Rome (Italy). From October 25 to 28, 2018, the Association of Salesian Cooperators will hold at the “Fraternal Domus” of Rome-Sacrofano the 5th World Congress, with the presence of about 330 representatives of 80 nations from all the continents.

The theme of the Congress is “Being co-responsible to respond to the new challenges of the world”.

The various social, cultural, political and economic realities of the world will be examined by the participants through different relationships and a particular methodology in group work. In this way we will try to identify the fundamental challenges of the current globalized society and to indicate to the whole Association some appropriate guidelines for action that will guide the commitment of the members for the coming six years.

The Salesian Cooperators are lay people who share the vocation of St. John Bosco to work in the Church and in society for the human and Christian promotion of the young, especially the poorest. Their mission and their role in the Church express the answer to what is being lived in these days in the Synod of Bishops, with the presence of young people.

Consecrated persons and lay people are at the service of young people with multiple activities: commitment in schools, oratories, parishes, in various social institutions, in shelters for minors in difficulty, shelters for abandoned mothers or victims of violence, with their children…

It is a service involving around 30,000 Salesian Cooperators all over the world, who witness the Gospel of joy with their daily lives. They do this through the educational attention lived according to Don Bosco’s Preventive System towards the new generations.
