Rome (Italy). The third issue of the magazine Da Mihi Animas (DMA) is online, which, in keeping with the theme of Peace planned for 2024, after the previous “Listening to Peace” (DMA 1) and “Dialogue, condition of Peace” (DMA 2) – develops the theme “Witnessing to Peace”.

“There is more noise from a tree falling than from an entire forest growing”. Sister Maria Ausilia De Siena, Communication Councilor of the FMA Institute, opens the editorial with this famous phrase. It underlines how much in comparison to the noise of news that arouses a stir, “the small space and minimal emphasis is given to news that could nourish our hope and encourage us to build peace inside and outside of us, engaging both as individuals and as a community.”

And she observes, “In fact, what is truly good does not make noise; it does not chase visibility and consensus, so much so that it makes us doubt it really exists. Instead, many examples of life, which often remain unknown, deserve adequate attention because they are testimonies of true heroism, worthy of admiration and emulation.”

With the certainty that, as Saint Paul VI said, “Contemporary man listens more willingly to witnesses than teachers, or, if he listens to teachers, he does so because they are witnesses” (EN, 41), this issue of the Magazine highlights some testimonies of Peace through the story of witnesses who in everyday life, many times silently, make love shine. “This is true greatness, to make love shine always and everywhere, even in the desert, even among the rubble of hatred, even at the cost of paying the consequences,” recalls Sister Ausilia.

“Peace is possible only through peace” is the title of the Dossier with the testimony of Jean Paul Habimana, who survived the genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda, on its 30th anniversary (1994-2024).

As in the previous issues, the third cover displays the poster with an expression by Mother Mazzarello, that can be downloaded from the magazine’s website www.rivistadma.org and where in the Archive, it is also possible to consult the issues of the magazine published from 2006 to today.

Good reading!
