(Rome Italy). The book The Holiness of Mary Domenica Mazzarello was published: Theological hermeneutics of testimonies in the processes of beatification and canonization, the result of the Doctorial Research of Sister Anschau Petri Eliane, FMA.
The volume offers the reader the fruits of the investigation on the testimonies of the Canonical Process of St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello, founder with Don Bosco of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
The knowledge and deepening of the spiritual figure of the Founders and Foundresses is of great importance for the understanding of the identity of the members of a religious Institute. For the specific mission received from God, the Founders become an irreplaceable point of reference, a “living rule” and a model of holiness for the disciples.
The research focuses on holiness, an element that is considered radical and central in the life of Mary Domenica Mazzarello. The fruitfulness of her life and of her ecclesial mission is born exactly from the type of holiness she achieved: it is a matter of discovering not what Mary Domenica did for God, but what God realized in her life and how she let herself be indwelled and transformed by grace, becoming a reflection of God’s goodness, a living gospel for the sisters and young people of her time and beyond her time.
To grasp theologically the mission and the form of holiness is therefore a task of extraordinary importance, not only for the personal understanding of Saint of Mornese, but also for the correct interpretation and implementation of her spiritual heritage.
