Rome (Italy). In these days, dedicated to the work for the preparation of the Chapter Document, reflections and messages continue to enrich the journey in synodality undertaken by the Chapter members.

Sr. Margaret Devadoss, delegate of the Province of St. Thomas the Apostle Madras (INM): “I come from India, a land of many and varied contexts, I realize the profound significance of this theme. As Pope Francis said, what is needed today is not unanimity or uniformity, because true unity lies in the richness of diversity. Therefore, what makes this chapter so unique is that synodality / ‘Unity in Diversity’ is lived on a daily basis, regardless of the cultural, geographical, linguistic, and social differences of its members.

Two important characteristics of synodality are collegiality and co-responsibility. An authentic life requires synodal listening, discernment, and walking together as missionary prophetic communities; to weave authentic relationships, to promote communion, and to awaken hope and joy in the life of all, especially of the young. This is the change, an integral and radical journey, personal and collective. May Jesus and Mary as models of synodality accompany the synodal journey.”

Sr. Marta Liliana Riccioli, Provincial of the Province of Saint Francis Xavier Bahía Blanca (ABB), elected at the GC XXIV as Visiting Councilor, “It is a time of openness, listening, and docility to the Holy Spirit, and like Mary, we allow ourselves to be questioned by the challenges of the contemporary world. In fidelity to God’s appeals in this reality, missionary daring is recreated that brings to the Institute the freshness of our missionary origins, to generate abundant life and Life for all.

The keys of synodality and prophecy give rhythm to our steps, urge us to make essential and daring choices, lead us into communion with other charisms, to live itinerant ‘preventive outreaches’ towards the frontiers where the life of the poorest young people cries out for ‘help’.”

Maria Carmen Castillo, President of the World  Confederation Mornese of the Past Pupils of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians,  writes to the Chapter members, “Two words come to mind, perseverance and constancy. Be present and accompany the life of children, young people, families, and of course, the past pupils, like Mary at the wedding at Cana, always attentive to their gestures and words, to understand what can give fullness and happiness to their lives. Like Mary ‘being there’.

Be present and accompany, because the future of the Church and of society is defined with a word, synodality. The challenges are so great that only by joining forces (consecrated persons, lay people, families, believers, and non-believers) can we ensure a future for the new generations, as Pope Francis says: ‘no one builds the future by isolating oneself’.”
