Nampula (Mozambique). On 24 September 2023, in the parish of São Pedro de Napipine, in the Archdiocese of Nampula, Sister Fidência Adelino Quaria, of Saint John Bosco Province (MOZ) made her perpetual profession in the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. Receiving her “Yes forever” to total donation to the Church at the service of the poorest young people, was the Provincial, Sister Carolina Ilda Hermínio, in the name of Mother General.

The Eucharistic Celebration, which was attended by the FMA communities of the north and center of the Country and numerous young people and faithful, was presided over by Monsignor Inácio Saure, Consolata missionary, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Nampula, and concelebrated by several priests.

Saint Cecilia choir of the parish animated the Celebration with harmonious voices, to the sound of drums, piano, and guitars, helped the people of God, witnesses of her dedication, to accompany Sister Fidencia with prayer.

The biblical word chosen by Sister was Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing”, through which she recognizes in her vocational journey the presence of Jesus the Good Shepherd, who guided her in all the circumstances of life and mission. She feels called to be a shepherd in turn of the sheep entrusted to her. Sister Fidencia shared her experience of her vocational journey on 19 September, during a prayer vigil that preceded her Celebration.

September 24, in addition to being the monthly commemoration of Mary Help of Christians, marks the 71st anniversary of the arrival of the first FMA in Mozambique who brought the Salesian Charism to the Country. It is therefore particularly significant that on a date like this an FMA native of Mozambique would make her perpetual profession.

The singing of the Magnificat was the expression of joy and celebration for the ‘Yes’ of the first sisters which still continues in the ‘Yes’ of Sister Fidencia, a visible sign of the Salesian Charism in this Country.
