Montevideo (Uruguay). The FMA of Mary Help of Christians Community – Montevideo, of Immaculate Conception Province (URU) have enacted one of the most brilliant traditions of Salesian pedagogy in the difficult time of Covid19.

In this time when Schools are closed due to the Covid19 pandemic, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians think about how to be close to the students, educators, and families of IMA School. They therefore chose to get involved not only with the most intense prayer, but also by offering words of encouragement and accompaniment with the traditional GOOD MORNING.

And so every morning through all the institutional networks, educational platforms, and gestures of solidarity, they send a greeting of faith, hope, and joy to all the families of the school, to encourage and support them, to value the time of fraternity and of being at home as a family.

Children and young people are waiting for it, educators complain if it does not arrive on time, families thank them for the strength and support they need.

The Animator, Sister Fanny Aida Serrés  explains that this time is precious to continue being together. Students, educators, families all committed to making the most of these difficult moments, trusting in the God of hope and life: “Every day there is the Good Morning appointment, a short video message that gives wings to everyday life; teachers and directors prepare lessons online and with joy we continue the pedagogical work as when we were in class. Mary Help of Christians is invoked to help in difficult times and 3 Hail Mary’s are recited as Don Bosco taught us.”

Quarantine urges us to a profound conversion. It is a favorable time for the FMA to activate a new way of educating and evangelizing, to communicate the Good News of Jesus of a God who enters our history and comes close to us, “Do not be afraid, I am with you.”
