Rome (Italy). The Community of the International Novitiate Sr. Teresa Valsè Pantellini of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Via Appia in Rome share with an online event, the work of an in-depth study on the life and mission of the Servant of God Sr. Antonieta Böhm, FMA.

The Novices in the formation journey of preparation for Religious Profession in the FMA Institute, each year study and present the life of a Daughter of Mary Help of Christians. In 2018, the biography of sr. Maria Romero. was presented through a musical. In 2019, a theatrical representation on the person of sr. Teresa Valsè Pantellini. In 2020, however, the focus was on the tireless work among the poorest in India of sr. Nancy Pereira.

This year they got to know and study sr. Antonieta Böhm missionary, Daughter of Mary Help of Christians of the South Mexican Province Our Lady of Guadalupe (MME), already proclaimed Servant of God, whose cause for Beatification is underway.

There are many testimonies that describe the motherhood of Sr. Antonieta, her predilection for the poor and for the salvation of the world, her ardent love for Jesus, and her call to be the transparency of Mary Help of Christians in order to be Her blessing hand everywhere.

 

The purpose of the encounter is to share how the closeness of Sr. Antonieta accompanied the novices and the community in this time of formation, the most relevant aspects of her life, and how her personality and spirituality can challenge the life of young people and communities today.

Sr. Antonieta Böhm was born in Bottrop (Germany) on 22 September 1907. From an early age she felt the call to be a missionary and entered the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA). She made her religious vows on August 5, 1928 and in 1934 she left for Argentina. After thirty years of missionary work, she is sent to Peru, then to Bolivia and Mexico. She is distinguished by her capacity for wise and maternal animation, love for the poor, an ardent love for Jesus, and a filial trust in Mary Help of Christians.

Sr. Antonietta is remembered for her maternal goodness, her smiling face, and a particular mission linked to a small statue of Mary Help of Christians, which she received in 1973 from Sr. Ersilia Crugnola with the recommendation to “make Her work”. She blessed the whole world and in particular the sick and the people who entrusted themselves to Her intercession and many of them experienced the extraordinary effectiveness of this blessing. She died in Coacalco (Mexico) on April 27, 2008.
