Corteno Golgi (Italy). From 23 to 25 August 2025, the birthplace of Sister Maria Troncatti, Corteno Golgi, in the province of Brescia, will host a three-day event of testimonies, initiatives, and celebrations in preparation for the event of her Canonization (19 October 2025), organized by the Holy Family Lombardy Province (ILO), in collaboration with the Municipality of Corteno Golgi (BS), the Municipality of Aprica (SO), the Parish of The Assumption of Mary, and the Pro Loco of Corteno.
It is a very rich program, which alternates celebratory moments, with the presence of the Cardinal of the Como Diocese, Oscar Cantoni; the Vicar General of the Brescia Diocese, Mons. Gaetano Fontana; of the Postulator of the Causes of the Saints of the Salesian Family, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, SDB; and others of celebration and play for the little ones, also offering the opportunity to enjoy the culinary traditions of the place.
Each day will be characterized by one of the aspects of the motto of the Canonization chosen by Mother Chiara Cazzuola and the General Councilors of the FMA Institute: “Mother, Missionary, Artisan of peace and reconciliation”.
In the days that prepare for the liturgical memory of the future Saint, on August 25, there will be the opportunity to “pause” in her birthplace, visiting the house of her birth, the parish where she became a daughter of God and attended since childhood, to walk the roads of Corteno that her feet have crossed and the paths familiar to her in the work of the pasture.
On 24 August will be inauguration of the Sister Maria Troncatti Path that will become part of the “Way of the Comets”, founded by the homonymous Association and that, inspired by the first pastoral letter of Msgr. Tremolada on the many faces of holiness, aims to follow and unite the places of the Saints of the Brescian region.
To know and deepen even better her character, there will also be offered the show “Nate per il volo” (Born for Flight) realized in view of the 150th of the FMA missions by the Novices of the International Novitiate “Mary Help of Christians” of Castel Gandolfo, with the highlights that prepared for the departure to Patagonia of the first six young FMA missionaries, on 14 November 1877.
In the days of this special triduum there will also be moments of testimony from relatives of the Saint and some young people who, thanks to her example and the Salesian charism, are putting themselves in action for the good of others.
The three days will end on 25 August with the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Card. Oscar Cantoni on the dies natalis of Sister Maria Troncatti and with other initiatives. These are all opportunities for young and old, especially families, to prepare their minds and hearts for this great Church event.
