Rome (Italy). “Adolescent worlds: an educational reflection” is the theme of the 2025-2026 interdisciplinary course proposed by the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences “Auxilium” in Rome.
The journey aims to delve deeper into the contemporary adolescent condition through a critical and interdisciplinary reading, with particular attention to relational dynamics, forms of discomfort, and emerging educational resources. Adolescence today is, in fact, configured as a complex and plural reality, marked by deeply different emotional, social, and cultural experiences compared to previous generations.
Considered a ‘problem’ to be managed and solved, the ‘being there’ and ‘telling oneself’ of adolescents challenges educational and school contexts, questioning the traditional relational approaches of adults. Pedagogical, teaching, and citizenship practices are being developed in educational spaces, schools, and psychological support services that deserve attention and dissemination. Their ‘worlds’ and ‘ways’ are questions to contemporary society, its performative models, and structural inequalities.
The intent of the Course is therefore to share insights, tools of understanding, and educational interventions that support teachers, parents, education professionals, and of helpful relationship to:
- renew the gaze on the “world” and “ways” of adolescents;
- listen to their being and their discomfort;
- recognize their discomfort as a language and interpret it in light of contemporary cultural and social transformations;
- support paths of identity and relational construction through active listening and valorization of their “experiences”;
- think about spaces, tools, and educational paths oriented towards integral well-being and prevention, understood not only as a fight against risk, but as the promotion of conditions favorable to personal and collective development.
The interdisciplinary journey is aimed at: male and female students, alumna and alumni, teachers and researchers from the Faculty and other academic institutions; teachers, parents, educators, pedagogists, psychologists, youth ministry workers, and catechists, Priests and Sisters who care about the lives of adolescents and work with them on a daily basis; anyone interested in the topic.
