Rome (Italy). At the beginning of the new year and in Salesian January, the Salesian Postulation, as per tradition, publishes the Poster and Dossier 2025 on Holiness in the Salesian Family.
The Salesian Postulation concerns 181: Saints (11), Blesseds (116), Venerables (20), Servants of God (28). Among these, there are Saint Mary Domenica Mazzarello, Saint Maria Troncatti, Blessed Maddalena Morano, Blessed Eusebia Palomino, Blessed Mary Romero, Blessed Mary Carmen Moreno Benitez, Blessed Mary Amparo Carbonell Munoz, Venerable Laura Meozzi, Venerable Teresa Valsè Pantellini, Servant of God Antonietta Böhm, Servant of God Rosetta Marchese, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and Blessed Laura Vicuña, FMA student from Junin de Los Andes (Argentina).
The Causes directly followed by the Postulation are 61 (plus 5 extra).
“These are men and women, young and adult, consecrated and lay, bishops and missionaries who in historical, cultural, social contexts diverse in time and space have made the Salesian charism shine with a singular light, representing a heritage that plays an effective role in the life and community of believers and for people of good will,” reminds the General Postulator, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, SDB in introducing the document.
A few months after the canonization of Sister Maria Troncatti, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians joyfully welcome this Dossier, which helps the Institute maintain its commitment of animation, knowledge, and deepening, and to prayer through the intercession of the Saints.
Among the events of 2025, reported in the document are the main stages of this extraordinary Church event that involved the entire Salesian Family:
- The announcement of the date of Canonization by Pope Leo XIV, which took place on 13 June 2025, during the Consistory.
- Canonical reconnaissance and conservative treatment of relics, from 15 to 18 July 2025, in Macas-Sucúa (Ecuador).
- Canonization in Rome in St. Peter’s Square, 19 October 2025.
Another very significant event for the FMA Institute was the closure-on 4 July 2025, at the Vicariate of Rome-of the diocesan phase of the Investigation for the Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God Mother Rosetta Marchese.
The Superior General of the FMA Institute, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, recalls in various circulars and discourses that holiness, joy, and the missionary spirit always go together. In particular, in Circular no. 1054 entitled “Don’t be afraid to be holy!”, published in November, “in the joyful climate of Canonization”, she animates to look at holiness as a goal reachable by living daily life fully. “Saint Maria Troncatti, as well as Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello, teach us that saints are not extraordinary people and reminds us that we are all called to holiness. (…)
The lives of the saints teach us that it is possible to live strongly rooted in today with its complexity, keeping in mind the invitation to shine like stars in the world (cf. Phil 2:15). We are called to involve the young people on this path.”
