Cambodia. At the end of 2025, there were significant waves of refugees due to the conflict along the Thai-Cambodian border. Thousands of people are displaced, particularly poor families in both Countries.
In this context, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Mary Our Help Province (CMY), together with members of the Salesian Family, completed three humanitarian aid missions in different Communities.
The first distribution took place in Battambang, in December 2025. Also in December, a second distribution was made in Poipet, where the Salesians of Don Bosco run a school. Many of their students and staff were displaced. The aid was distributed by the Salesian Family and the organization A Call To Share Singapore (ACTS Singapore), as main supporters.
A third distribution was organized in Siem Reap at the beginning of the new year. On this occasion, the initiative was carried out not only by the Salesian Family and ACTS, but also in coordination with the Church through the Jesuits and their staff.
This initiative is a splendid expression of synodality, supported by the awareness that humanitarian aid requires relief actions and coordinated contributions, rather than the work of a single group. It was a very significant gesture, which triggered donations from parents and students of FMA schools, from Past Pupils both inside and outside the Country, and from other donors who, upon learning of these initiatives, contributed generously. Donations consisted of food parcels, educational materials for children, personal hygiene items, and clothing.
At the moment, the situation remains uncertain. The FMAs and other members of the Salesian Family are closely monitoring daily developments, keeping themselves ready for further intervention, while continuing to pray for the gift of a lasting peace.
The Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, while thanking for the contributions received so far, continues to offer concrete support to the people of Cambodia and counts on the generosity and solidarity of all. Contributions and offerings can be submitted in the manner indicated on the FMA Institute website, designating Cambodia Emergency in the reason for the offering.
