Rome (Italy). The fourth issue of the magazine Da Mihi Animas (DMA) is published, which in 2025 explored the underlying theme of Hope according to various aspects useful to the Salesian charismatic mission. After “Hope in the signs of the times” (DMA 1), “Hope is a journey together” (DMA 2), and “Hope is bold” (DMA 3), “Educating to hope” is the title of the new issue.
“Hope is not optional, but a vital necessity,” affirms Sister Maria Ausilia De Siena, Communication Councilor of the FMA Institute in the editorial, especially in a time of challenges and uncertainties like today’s: “Never before like today is the awareness of the urgency to cultivate it, to educate to live it, and to transmit it.”
Sister Maria Ausilia highlights hope as “a generative force that supports the path of people and communities.” Therefore, “Educating to hope means accompanying the new generations to recognize the value of the present without losing the horizon of tomorrow.”
From an educational perspective, the Salesian style offers a precious contribution. “Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello taught us that hope is not transmitted only in words, but is witnessed in daily life, with joy and trust.” With this in mind, educating to hope “means looking at young people with the same gaze as our Founders, creating welcoming environments where they can dream big without fear of making mistakes.
In addition to the in-depth theme, the magazine offers useful ideas for preparing for Institute events, such as the now imminent (19 October) Canonization of Sister Maria Troncatti, with the narration of the miracle that opened the way for it by Mr. Juwa Bosco, healed through her intercession from a serious head injury with brain damage.
The three-year period of preparation for 150° of the first missionary expedition, started on 14 November 2024, also offers the opportunity to narrate the hope that many FMA have been able to embody in their daily lives, in sharing life with people. The article that narrates a mission experience is associated with a video interview that can be found in the Multimedia.
The magazine is enriched with multimedia insights, available on the website www.rivistadma.org, recently renovated, it can easily be consulted from PC, tablet, and smartphone. Translated into six languages, it can also be downloaded in entirely digital format.
All issues of the journal –published from 2006 to the present – can be consulted in the Archive, in their respective Translations.
