Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). In response to the request of the Educational Office that coordinates the Schools of the city of Addis Ababa for a collection of clothes and food, especially pasta and rice, for children and people who are living in difficult situations, the Educating Community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of B. Laura Vicuña House of Bole Bulbula, of the Preprovince  Mary Help of Christians (AES), took action by proposing the initiative to children and young people of the Auxilium Catholic School.

From the little ones of the Kindergarten to the older ones of the High School, with the teachers and the staff, they invaded the entrance stairs of the different sectors of the school with pasta, rice, clothes, and soaps, with which a surprising number of bags were soon filled that  amazed the employees in charge of the collection.

“In this small part of the world we are ‘all Brothers’ and those who have more want to generously support those who have less. The children even brought just a bar of soap, but their little hand was there,” are the words of an FMA missionary  who followed the initiative.

In his homily for the World Day of the Poor on 14 November  2021, Pope Francis invites us to nourish hope by building “every day with concrete gestures, the Kingdom of love, justice, and fraternity that Jesus inaugurated.”

“What is required of us Christians in the face of this reality? We are asked to nourish the hope of tomorrow by healing the pain of today.”

(Pope Francis)
