Soverato (Italy). On 8 May 2025, at the Teatro Comunale of Soverato, Catanzaro, in the sector of the 9th edition of the Euro Soul Festival, the award went to a student of the 3rd Linguistic High School and of Human Sciences of Mary Help of Christians Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, of Our Lady of Good Counsel Province (IMR).
Mary Help of Christians Institute has always been attentive and sensitive to the European and intercultural dimension of education, which it systematically promotes with various initiatives for all school levels, from Early Childhood to the two orientations of Lyceum, thanks also to collaborators consolidated with other Entities and educative agencies of the territory. This year as well, with great enthusiasm and participation, the School took part in the project Let’s Book Trailer, promoted by the association “JUMP – Youth in Highlight”, an experience that combines reading, creativity, digital skills, and teamwork.
The project, which is part of a European reading education path, invites students to turn a book into a book trailer, that is, a short video able to tell the soul of a novel through images, music, and visual storytelling. It is a new and stimulating way to approach the texts, to understand them, and reinterpret them with the language of the new generations.
On the evening of 8 May, in a festive atmosphere, with international guests and much emotion, the School lived the opportunity for discussion and celebration of young talent.
To give immense joy was the student Marica Bressi, who won the Award for the Italian delegation with her trailer dedicated to “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury. In her intense, engaging work, cared for in every detail, Marica managed to transmit with great depth the themes of the novel – censorship, the value of knowledge, freedom of thought – with a sensitivity and maturity that surprised everyone.
The entire school community is proud of this achievement, but even more so for the path that led to the brilliant goal, achieved thanks to the winner, to her whole class, to the teachers who guided this journey with care and dedication, and thanks also to the Jump association that has once again proposed an engaging project.
The Euro Soul Festival, promoted and organized by the Jump association, with the high patronage of the European Parliament and the sponsorship of the Municipality of Soverato, in the week symbolically dedicated to Europe Day, animated the city with faces, voices, and flags from all over Europe. The experience is a true European laboratory of encounter, dialogue, and educative innovation.
In particular, this year’s edition, declared as the European Year of Education for Digital Citizenship, involved Erasmus+ delegations from France, Germany, Romania, Greenland, and Bulgaria. There were about 112 students, accompanied by teachers and educators, engaged in the exciting edition of the didactic game Mission Impossible – City Game, discovering the symbolic places and traditions of Soverato through puzzles, educative tests, and collaboration between various cultures.
Euro Soul aims to build Europe, day after day, through friendship, curiosity, hospitality, and shared commitment. It is a living project, which promotes synergy between schools, institutions, citizens, and European partners, to really feel part of a single, large community.
