Sao Paulo (Brazil). The community of the International Novitiate of San Paolo in Brazil, in “St. Catherine of Siena” Province (BSP), created a Musical on Mother Mazzarello, “Maìn in Rhyme – Verses of a life lived in holiness”.

The musical Maìn in Rhyme is the result of the formation journey of the young women and the motivational appeal given by the Mother General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sister Yvonne Reungoat.  In her Circular no. 989, on the occasion of the opening of the Triennium With Mary towards the 150th anniversary of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, reminds us: “We have a magnificent charismatic patrimony for which we have the responsibility not only to preserve it, but to make it grow and radiate its ecclesial and social fruitfulness. Let us be inspired by the one who traced the feminine face of Don Bosco’s educational charism, living it in Mornese and Nizza Monferrato in a creative and daring way together with the first communities, young people, and lay collaborators. It will be everyone’s commitment to involve the communities in the discovery of Mary Domenica, in her richness as a young woman, and in the prophetic dimensions of her spirituality and her educational mission.”

It was a commitment for the Novices to portray the face of creative love that Maìn transmitted with her life given and her spirituality through theater.
The goal was to re-read the life of the Co-founder, Mary Domenica Mazzarello, as a prelude to eternity for us.

The young women highlighted the mystic of love and the encounters that generate life on the journey of Mary Domenica. A love that was the foundation of her life. The encounters that were the cultivation of love, multiplied over time and history.

The show represents the search for the harmony of words to express in poetry what she made of her life, and which indicates the essentiality of the experience of God’s love, which is manifested in the dynamics of encounters that form and transform.

The texts of the representation were drawn from the sources of the Cronistoria, vol. I, II, and III,  the Letters of Mother Mazzarello, and the formative material of the Novitiate that Sister Vani Moreira (BBH) and Sister Rosangela Clemente (BCB) promoted.

In keeping with the reason for the 1st year of preparation for the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the FMA institute “We give thanks to the Lord who gives us many graces” (L 37.10), the presentation of this show was made by the International Novitiate Community “Our Lady of Grace” as a concrete gesture of gratitude to God for the history and for every generous yes that made the Salesian mission possible.

This work is shared in the hope that in the communities we can deepen the life of Mary Mazzarello, to experience the creative force of the spirit that urges us to continue writing pages of unprecedented history for today.

Long live Mother Mazzarello!
