Rome (Italy). The Chapter members continue to weave networks of life and communion and begin the day by giving praise to the Lord for the presence of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in the 5 Continents. It is a time of choices, because the FMA Institute of many faces and a thousand shades, lives the service to the young and the poorest by revitalizing the commitment to be missionary communities generative of the love of God.
Sr. Marta Riccioli, Provincial of the Argentine Province of St. Francis Xavier (ABB) introduces the theme of the 3rd Nucleus of Prophetic Missionary Communities. The invitation to be challenged by the creative and daring power of the Holy Spirit “sends us out and urges us to be heralds of the Gospel with renewed ardor and with the passion for the Kingdom of our first FMA missionaries.”
In deepening the Word, Sr. Marta draws attention to the Signs of the times that open up new sprouts of Life to re-signify the Educating Communities as missionary outgoing.
“To be Prophetic Missionary Communities we start from a conviction that becomes life. Our prophecy does not consist so much in predicting the future that does not arrive, but living deeply in the present, with particular attention to the signs of the times. If we live the present deeply and exercise docility as a permanent attitude, we will be able to discover the insights that the Holy Spirit arouses in us, to allow ourselves to be surprised by the sprouts of life present in reality. Being faithful to the present, as the prophets of all times have been, means being attentive to the historical moment with all its tensions and contradictions.
For every discernment in our Educating Communities, it is necessary to start from the truth of reality, because reality always prevails over ideas (Pope Francisco. Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, n.231-233).
When Mary presents the lack of wine in Cana, she is deeply embodied in reality, in the present of the wedding, and it is precisely this that makes the sign of Jesus and His action in history possible.
It is the deeply incarnated gaze in the present and in reality like that of Mary which is the starting point of all discernment. Pope Francis, sustained by the coherence of his testimony of life and faith, becomes light and wisdom to guide us in the signs of the times, which open sprouts of new life.”
At the center of the Chapter experience there is developing a network of life, creative and transforming, in which, like Mary, the Chapter members are attentive to the calls of God that surprise and challenge the FMA Institute to build prophetic and missionary communities in the heart of Contemporaneity.
