Rome (Italy). Sr. María del Rosario García, Provincial of the Province of Mary Help of Christians – Spain (SPA), member of the Interprovincial Conference of the Middle East-Europe, shares the expectations of CIME regarding the XXIV General Chapter.

The Middle East Europe – CIME Interprovincial Conference is very young. It was born on 8 September 2020. It could be said that it is a new ‘particular common house’ made up of 20 Provinces and 2 Preprovinces, all belonging to the European Continent and the Middle East.

“In this experience of the XXIV General Chapter we are living together in an attitude of thanksgiving to the Lord for the history of the Institute, which in 2022 celebrates the 150th  anniversary of Foundation. We give thanks for our charismatic roots and for the mission and, with infinite gratitude, we look to the future with hope.

What do we expect from GC XXIV?

We hope that this time of reflection and encounter will be a space for discernment, an opportunity guided by the Holy Spirit to share life and grow together as an FMA Institute in the search for answers to the mission that the Lord entrusts to us.

We hope to experience with great joy this precious opportunity for networking, for deep communication, and open to all aspects of the life of the Institute. It is a gift to be able to share the life of our Provinces, our cultural contexts, and our educating communities, making their voice present in this chapter assembly.

We hope that this rich family experience we are living will help us to deepen what it means today to be ‘Mornese outgoing’ with the awareness that the time we live does not allow us to ‘stay still’.

We hope to welcome the challenge of change that is addressed to us in ‘this unprecedented time’, a time never experienced in this way on a global level. We want to place ourselves strongly as educating communities in listening to young people, especially the poorest and most vulnerable, in listening to wounded mother earth who asks us to educate ourselves and educate others to a new vision of integral ecology.

We hope, as a result of this experience, to strengthen global networking in the FMA Institute with other ecclesial networks, with other religious institutes, with educational and social realities, especially with the different groups of the Salesian Family, to share with more passion the Salesian charism and reinvent together ‘being’ with young people.

We hope, in summary, to continue to discover how and where the Spirit leads us, to let ourselves be guided by Him, renewing with hope our commitment to generate and accompany life”.
