Santiago (Chile). On 24 March 2022, the Province of Saint Gabriel the Archangel (CIL), through an online meeting of all the Educating Communities, officially began the celebrations in the Province of the 150th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (1872-2022).

From the studio of Caetera Tolle, the multimedia center of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Valentina, a former pupil of Mary Help of Christians School in Santiago, and Sr. Gabriela Aguilera animated this moment of celebration, which began with the prayer prepared by Mary Help of Christians Community of Linares.

All the Educating Communities of Chile participated in the trasmission online of this launch by preparing a greeting or a video to communicate the vitality of the educational reality.

The central moment was the presentation of the cover of the hymn for the 150th anniversary, produced in collaboration with Caetera Tolle, with the contribution of students, parents, teachers, Past Pupils, and FMA. The Community of Mary Help of Christians of Santa Cruz also created the choreography of the hymn, shared during the online transmission with all the communities, so that it can be used in this festive year.

The Provincial, Sr. Ximena Oyarzo Mansilla, intervened by encouraging us to share the joy of this celebration and to remember with gratitude the beginnings of the Institute, which extend over time through the education of young people:

“It is a time of grace for everyone, from the youngest in our houses, to the Sisters with more years, we are all celebrating. The ‘yes’ that those young women boldly pronounced 150 years ago in Mornese means that we can meet to share Salesian life. We are grateful because Mary, our Mother and Help of Christians, walks with us and leads us to an encounter with her Son, who gives us life in abundance. May these 150 years be an opportunity to give thanks, to celebrate, and to revive in us the dream of making others happy, serving them with generosity and joy.”

This online moment marks the beginning of a year of numerous provincial activities and celebrations of remembrance and gratitude for the generous ‘yes’ of Mother Mazzarello and the first Sisters.
