Bangalore (India). On 18 and 19 February 2023, at the National Biblical Catechetical and Liturgical Center (NBCLC) in Bangalore, the 7th Regional Elective Congress of the Salesian Cooperators of South Asia was held, with the presence of the World Coordinator, Mr. Antonio Boccia; of the World Delegates of the ASSCC, Sr. Lucrecia Uribe, Daughter of Mary Help of Christians; and Mr. Domenico Nguyen, Salesian of Don Bosco; of the Councilor of the South Asia Region, David Swamikannu Anthuvan; and of Fr. Gilbert Choondal, SDB Coordinator of India.
The Congress, which was attended by about a hundred Salesian Cooperators and FMA and SDB Delegates, had the aim of electing the new Councilor of the South Asia Region, and to study in depth the Rector Major’s Strenna 2023, highlighting how a Salesian Cooperator can be leaven in today’s human family. The theme of synodality was also developed, according to the biblical, charismatic, and lay dimensions.
During the Congress, ten Aspirant Salesian Cooperators made their promise, while Mr. Devasia Kuriakose Theckeparampil was elected Councilor of the South Asia Region.
In the days following the meeting, Sr. Lucrecia Uribe, Mr. Antonio Boccia with his wife, Mr. Domenico Nguyen, Mr. David Swamikannu Anthuvan, and Fr. Gilbert Choondal, were welcomed in the headquarters of the FMA Province of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (INK) by the Provincial, Sr. Lucy Rose Ozhukayil, who gave them the traditional shawl as a sign of welcome.
Guests were able to visit the FIDES (Family Integral Development and Education Scheme), with various social works and the Museum of Sr. Nancy Pereira, whose cause of sanctity has been proposed to the Institute. Thus, they had the opportunity to get to know the local reality and commitment, as well as the life of creative dedication in service to the poor and the works resulting from the tireless work carried out by Sr. Nancy.
