Hat Yai (Thailand). From 21 to 25 November 2025, southern Thailand and in particular Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, was hit by heavy rains that caused serious flooding with water levels of up to 2.50 meters and in some cases even 4 meters, and devastated the city and the surrounding area, causing more than 160 deaths and destruction everywhere.
The waters also invaded the Thidanukhro School of Hat Yai, of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Saint Mary Mazzarello Province (THA), especially the ground floor of the nursery, primary, and secondary buildings, as well as the external fields.
Currently, the water level has decreased. The Sisters of Mary Help of Christians Community, along with staff, Past Pupils, teachers, and parents, are trying to assess the damage while they clean up and plan restoration work so that the school can resume teaching activities as soon as possible under normal conditions.
Regarding the situation in Hat Yai territory, as conditions progressively improve, extensive damage to roads, homes, buildings, shops, cars, and motorcycles emerges, many of which have been completely submerged by water. Some of the population has now returned to their homes to inspect the damage and begin cleaning operations, while significant accumulations of waste remain in several areas. Numerous families are in serious difficulty, having lost almost all of their assets.
The Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, while thanking for the contributions received so far, continues to offer concrete support to the THA Province and the population and counts on the generosity and solidarity of all. Contributions and offerings can be sent in the manner indicated on the web site of the FMA Institute, designating in the reason Thailand Emergency.
