Macas (Ecuador). From 10 to 12 December 2025, the IV National Meeting of the Network of Young Salesian Communicators (RJSC), organized by the Social Communication Team of Sacred Heart Province (ECU), took place at the Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Maria Ausiliatrice in Macas, Morona Santiago. The meeting brought together 30 participants including young people, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, lay people, and consultants from the Network.
The RJSC is made up of young people and lay people who are members of journalism clubs and works communication groups. Its mission is to actively collaborate in the creation of content and dissemination of the most significant news of local realities, thus strengthening communication at the Province level.
“Telling the faith where life is born” was the motto of this fourth edition, a proposal that aimed to know, understand the mission, and announce directly from the places and with the communication style typical of Saint Maria Troncatti, whose 100th anniversary of her arrival in Macas is celebrated.
The meeting addressed key issues such as Sister Troncatti’s communication style, characterized by simplicity, closeness, everyday life, and attention to people’s dignity. Aspects relating to the creation of targeted content, photography, and the correct use of the institutional logo were also covered. A process of evaluating the published content was then initiated and guidance was provided to encourage more active participation in the creation of materials for the social networks, the magazine, and other Province communications products.
The event program also included spaces dedicated to artistic expression, where young people, through music and dance, creatively explored the message and spirituality of Saint Maria Troncatti. (video)
A guided tour was also organized to the significant places in the Saint’s life – the Saint Maria Troncatti Museum, Mary Help of Christians parish, and the Quinta Mendoza (site of the plane crash that killed the Saint) – during which participants faced various challenges related to communication, reflection, and internalization. Each challenge they passed allowed them to obtain stamps and complete their notebook entitled, “The Path of Youth Communicators”.
The final Mass was presided over by Father José Luis García, SDB, who combined the celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe with the invitation to be communicators of life, in the style of Mary and Saint Maria Troncatti. With her message, close and profound, he encouraged the participants, who felt motivated to assume communication as a fundamental service of life, faith, and commitment to the environment around them, following the example of the Salesian Saint.
The Provincial Social Communication Team thanks the Salesian works that participated in this formation space, in the belief that these meetings contribute to continuing to build institutional communication consistent with the Salesian Charism and at the service of the educating-evangelizing mission in every FMA presence.
