Tipperary (Ireland). On the occasion of the Season of Creation 2025 on the theme “Peace with Creation,” on 11 September 2025, at the Conference Center in Tipperary, Ireland, the Cosmology Group of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Province of Our Lady Queen of Ireland (IRL) organized a conference for FMA, work colleagues and lay people interested in caring for our common home. This conference is the second of three planned for 2025 with the presenter, Fr. Diarmuid O’Murchu, Missionary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSC).
The theme of the relator’s presentation – ‘Eco-Spirituality and the Conscious Universe’ – brought the participants to a deeper understanding of the meaning of the word ‘ecology’. The root meaning of the word from the Greek ‘oikoc’ meaning home explains how we deeply connected to all that is our common home, our Planet Earth. He drew the attention to the capacity of the human brain within our human consciousness emphasising the connection of consciousness to the ‘other’. ‘Thinking that the source of consciousness is in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer…..The brain does not produce consciousness; it is an instrument that tunes into and transmits it’.
Fr. Diarmuid went ahead and explained that everything in creation is a manifestation and expression of Spirit-energy (God) and human consciousness is derived from cosmic consciousness. This conscious Spirit-energy is transpersonal and comes from deep within, deep silence. ‘Consciousness, like energy, is mysteriously pervasive. We speak of divine consciousness, yet all consciousness is divine. It is a mode of divinity whereby Spirit is present in and through each and everyone of us and every aspect of creation’ (Miriam Therese Winters)
A greater awareness is crucial and the key to change if we are to grow in our consciousness within the Sacred Spirit Energy. As Gaston San Peirre stated: ‘When I change the level of my awareness, I start attracting a different reality’. We need to redefine humans as energy beings.
“We are creatures of soul and spirit energy” – the speaker explained -. “There are no superior beings, but all beings are equally unique and diverse. When we reflect on the Source of conscious/spirit-energy we are forever aware that the Source is the Great Spirit of God our Creator”.
After the conference, which the group found very interesting, time was set apart for questions and answers. There was time also for discussion which gave rise to a deeper level of sharing on God’s gift of Creation and our responsibilities to hand on to the generations to come, a ‘home’ they will cherish.
