Alla scuola di Don Bosco

Rome (Italy).  On January 10th The Salesian Family Spirituality Days at the house of Valdocco, Turin officially began.  There are more than 350 participants from the whole world representing the Salesian Family Groups present on all the continents.

The second day of work and reflection for the participants of the Salesian Family Spirituality Days began with the prayer of Lauds animated by the Contemplative Community of Mary of Nazareth, and by the choir of the Novices of Pinerolo.

Fr. Aldo Giraudo, SDB, Professor of Salesian History at the Salesian Pontifical University, presented the theme: ‘Sanctity at the School of Don Bosco’. “Don Bosco was convinced that being very happy was the fruit of divine grace that inundates and shapes the heart and mind of those who decide to place God at the center of their life, in the radical gift of self, animated by the love of those who are not only attentive to avoid the least sin, but are vigilant and active in discerning and doing the divine will always, and lovingly accomplishing their daily duties”.

Beginning with the life of the Saint, he listed the secrets that he left as a heritage:  the desire to “Give oneself to God”, the possibility for everyone to become saints, the journey of personal and apostolic ascesis, living in the presence of God.

In his presentation of the ‘Experience of Educating and accompanying the Salesians of Croatia on the journey of holiness’, Fr. Damir Stojic, SDB, shared a concrete pastoral experience addressed to the young university students who incarnate one of the various ways of actualizing Don Bosco’s Good Christians and Honest Citizens.

The Eucharistic Celebration was presided by the Rector Major.  Fr. Eusebio Muñoz gave the homily, inviting everyone to take care of their faith and friendship with God, and to live the Gospel.

The afternoon was dedicated to visiting the holy places between Valdocco, the Cottolengo, the Oratory of the Marchioness Barolo, and the surrounding streets, a true and proper itinerary for both  citizens and spiritual people to be able to enter with a pilgrim soul, into the secrets of the stories of holiness that have preceded us.

After the pilgrimage, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator for the Salesian Family, presented the Sanctity of the Salesian charism, retracing the lives and the spirituality of the Saints, Blesseds, Venerables, and Servants of God of the Salesian Family.

At the end of the day, the ADMA Group animated the Eucharistic Adoration and the Rosary with meditations on the dream of the two columns, ‘The Eucharist and Mary’.
