Sicily (Italy). From 4 to 5 November 2018 the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians is in Sicily, in “Mother Magdalene Morano” Province (ISI), to take part in the celebration of the erection of the FMA Chapel in Alì Terme.
The first stop of Mother Yvonne Reungoat was her visit to the elderly and sick sisters of the House of Catania Barriera where Sister Concettina Giurdanella offered her, in the name of all her sisters, a floral tribute with the enthusiasm of her 105 years, rich in wisdom and simplicity.
There was a short prayer in the Chapel to thank the Lord for the presence of Mother, who immediately afterwards, addressed a word of encouragement and hope to those present, completing the visit with an affectionate greeting for the sick sisters.
Following this, she arrived at the Provincial House, where she participated in the Eucharistic Celebration animated by the youth of the SYM Council and, after a time of fraternal agape, she met the FMA of the Province and urged them to continue in their commitment of generous donation to the Lord with the same fervor and enthusiasm of Mother Morano.
Together with the canonical Visitor, Sister Marija Pece, the Provincial, and the Provincial Councilors, she left for Alì Terme where the Mayor, Carlo Gianquinta, and the authorities were all waiting for her in the Plaza. After a spectacular Sicilian dance performed with professionalism by young girls from the Alesians, the Mayor on behalf of the municipal administration and citizens present officially greeted Mother, who concluded with her great appreciation for the warm welcome and the beauty of territorial involvement in the experience of the community mission.
Mother was then accompanied in the procession from the square to the Institute courtyard where there was a truly extraordinary scenic representation: a boat with nets surrounded the courtyard forming a heart, like that of Mother Morano. Also present in the scene were some little children, the first recipients of her work. The background of the sea was very well symbolized by classic dance ballerinas.
A prayer vigil in preparation for the event the next day, concluded the first day adding to the history of Alì Terme a piece of light as an invitation to the holiness of Mother Morano that can also become our holiness.
