Rome (Italy). From 6 to 10 September 2023 in Valdocco, Turin, at the Mother House of the Salesians of Don Bosco, the III Seminar for the promotion of the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of the Salesian Family, “In the roundabout of the Saints”, takes place after those organized in 2016 and in 2018.

“While we express a profound and religious sense of gratitude and praise for the holiness already recognized in our Family and for that in the process of recognition, we are aware that we have received a precious legacy that deserves to be known and valued, under various aspects: liturgical -celebratory, spiritual, pastoral, ecclesial, educational, cultural”, are the words of Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General of the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family that motivate the Seminar.

The initiative therefore proposes to promote knowledge, imitation, and intercession of these brothers and sisters of the Salesian Family whom the Lord has given as models of life, traveling companions, and intercessors, as well as to illustrate and deepen some dynamics connected on how a Cause is concretely treated, both from a juridical and theological point of view.

Specifically, “the Seminar intends to valorize the spiritual, pastoral, and educational heritage of holiness born of Don Bosco; understand the true meaning and purpose of a Cause for canonization; offer guidelines and good practices in order to promote the Causes of candidates for canonized sanctity of the Salesian Family; help in the ascertainment and accompaniment of alleged miracles.”

It is an ecclesial event, because the Causes of Beatification and Canonization are an asset of the Church, and together an encounter of the Salesian Family, considering that about half of the 32 groups have at least one Cause in progress.

Approximately 80 participants are expected, representing the more than 60 Causes followed by the Postulation. For the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, there will be present the General Secretary, and Sr. Maria Luisa Nicastro, Sr. Francesca Caggiano, and Sr. Guadalupe Chavez, Vice-Postulators; Sr. Lucrecia Uribe, of the Salesian Family Sector; and 11 other FMA from different parts of Europe and the world, where the relics of the sisters were born or are kept on the journey to their election to the honors of the altars. The logo of the event was created by Sr. Angela Marzorati of the General Secretariat of the FMA Institute.

Hosted in Valdocco, the Seminar will allow them to experience the places of Don Bosco, visit the House-Museum with the themed space for the figures of holiness of the Salesian Family, “go up” in prayer to Colle Don Bosco, and go to see Mamma Margherita in Capriglio. They are all places that speak of an incarnate holiness and of the concreteness of the bonds thanks to which so many young people have become saints in Don Bosco’s house: places that teach how to be weavers of the Gospel in their respective Houses and Communities.
