Petrolina (Brazil). The Auxilium School of Petrolina (Brazil), during Environment Week, involved the students in the Custodians of Creation Project, to educate them on the importance of keeping the school clean and harmonious for a better life.

Under the guidance of teachers Priscila Fernanda Rocha and Fabiana Batista and the lively participation of the Elementary School students, it was an enriching experience.

It began with the competition for the choice of the project logo that was won by Gabriella Braga, a 7th B. student. Then, with the campaign “Don’t throw garbage, throw seeds“, the students distributed seeds of the original plant of the savannah for the whole school community. The exhibition on the importance of preserving the environment proved to be extraordinary.

Finally, 650 liters of oil were collected from the elementary classes (7th , 8th,  and 9th) and delivered to the Institute for the Support of Children with Cancer (IACC).

“We cannot stand by and watch, we must act, raising awareness in children and adolescents regarding the environment and ensuring that they become responsible citizens aware of their role”, said the project leader, Ana Lucia Ramos Coelho.

World Environment Day aims to raise public awareness to promote the protection and conservation of environmental activities, and to alert civil society and government agencies in each country about the risk of neglecting the task of caring for the world in which we live.
