Rome (Italy). On 23 June 2025, the Vicariate of Rome transmitted the following communiqué concerning the closure of the diocesan phase of the process of beatification and canonization of the Servant of God Mother Rosetta Marchese, Daughter of Mary Help of Christians:

On Friday, 4 July  2025, at noon, in the Court Room of the Palazzo Apostolico Lateranense, Bishop Renato Tarantelli Baccari, Vicegerent of the Diocese of Rome, presides over the closing session of the diocesan inquiry into life, the heroic virtues, fame of holiness, and signs of the Servant of God Rosetta Marchese, a professed religious of the Institute Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.

The Tribunal that conducted the diocesan inquiry is composed of Monsignor Giuseppe D’Alonzo, episcopal delegate; Fr. Giorgio Ciucci, promoter of justice; Marcello Terramani, notary actuary. Postulator of the cause of beatification and canonization is Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, Salesian of Don Bosco, while vice postulator is Sister Francesca Caggiano, Daughter of Mary Help of Christians. All the procedural documents, in double certified copy, closed in sealed containers, will be delivered to Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, appointed carrier, with the task of transmitting them to the Dicastery for the Causes of the Saints.

Mother Rosetta Marchese was born in Aosta on 20 October 1922. From an early age, she knew and frequented the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, thus maturing her faith and her ideal of total consecration to God.

After her first religious profession in 1941, she completed her studies at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, graduating in Letters. From 1947 to 1958, she was a teacher and vicar in the missionary house “Mother Mazzarello” of Turin, where she followed with particular attention the young Sisters who were preparing to leave for the missions. From 1958 to 1974, she worked in animation and government in Sicily, Rome, and Lombardy.

In 1981, she was elected Superior General, but only eight months after her election the first signs of leukemia came. In the Circular of 24 October 1982, Mother Rosetta concluded her teaching by wishing all her daughters to let themselves be infected by Don Bosco “with acute nostalgia for the ‘Bel Paradiso’,” in order to enter into the path of holiness “with a will without turning back”. She said, “The goal is unique: to arrive in Paradise with all the young people for whom we have given and consumed our existence.” She died on 8 March 1984, in Rome.

On the occasion of the closing session of the diocesan inquiry on the life, virtues, fame of holiness, and signs of the Servant of God Mother Rosetta Marchese (1922-1984), seventh successor of Saint Mary Domenica Mazzarello, which will take place on 4 July  2025, each FMA Community is invited to celebrate a Eucharist of thanksgiving and for the Glorification of the Servant of God.
